Mahon Alt Photographer: Yorkshire Gothic

I wanted to showcase the work of alternative and fetish photographer Mahon as I’m a huge fan of his sublime work. Mahon’s photographs are often fetish and fantasy themed, set in mysterious, tenebrous places with striking or alternative models. They have an otherworldly quality. He is astoundingly good at photographing latex, there’s no infinite white backgrounds. Here it’s deliciously dark, figures emerge at you, highlighted at the edges by light or glowing neon reflections. The women he photographs are portrayed as powerful and dominant, or alluring but with a touch of the femme fatale. We meet gothic heroines, villainesses and fetish fashionistas in provocative poses. His work uses quite a muted pallet with splashes of vivid colour that both draw you in and create an over all superb effect, photographs but with the quality of a painting.

Jamie is a photographer based in Kidderminster, Midlands, UK after relocating from his home county of Yorkshire. He has a degree in Photographic Art and over 15 years experience working as an artworker, art director, creative director, retoucher and is an award-winning photographer. With his images and design work regularly featured in international publications and on-line media. Here on the blog there is a four part epic Man’s Ruin: Amazing Tales of Heroic Masochism featuring Stan Dare Sub-Marine & Sgt. Rock. In the story we wanted to counter the conventional notion of the pathetic and physically weak in appearance submissive. We decided to portray our captive as the ultimate muscle-clad, alpha-male. Basing the character on the American comic book heros of the ’50s. (Though by the end of Pt.4 Sgt. Rock’s not quite so macho.) 😉  See Pt1 Here. Because whatever they look like, submissive men are anything but wimps!

Submissive Men  – Champions of The World

When a man submits to me, it is not because he is weak but because he is strong – to submit takes extreme will. Most subs could outdo a lot of endurance athletes and sports adrenaline junkies. To suffer what many slaves undergo & brave, needs a strong man, both mentally and physically. Enabling me to indulge my need to really hurt, bully, shame and abuse them. I am often astounded with the amounts of pain, humiliation and suffering that slaves will endure purely for my pleasure. How they face and overcome their fears in order to submit to my will and become something new for me.

What is also fantastic about sub men (and women) is that they are nearly always highly intelligent (except when they have an erection 😉 ), articulate and very creative. They want to explore their sexualities and imaginative fantasies which they populate with their dreams of submission and suffering. Although an experienced Mistress, I still believe there is plenty for me to learn within the huge orbit of BDSM. Much of what I have learned has in some part come from the submissives that have served and amused me.

Todd Max Carey’s tOuch Kink (2023) is a documentary that dives head first into the colourful, complex world of BDSM and fetishism. Guided by the inspiring January Seraph, Carey reveals the humanity behind kink, blending education with empathy.
