Flogging the community, one ego at a time!
This is to introduce anyone who has yet to discover, the excellent Daily Flogger. The BDSM scene should be flattered and conceed that it is a mark of its breadth, influence and popularity that has laid it open to its very own satirical, spoof newspaper. Its articles range from hilarious lampooning to subtle derision which requires a more intimate knowledge of some of the major players within our community. For there is a recognisable pomposity and self-importance among some within the scene that requires a little gentle mocking.
While the self-appointed (and well-meaning) safety brigade will always be a cause of ironic hilarity as the oxymoron ‘a safe whipping’ demonstrates. As here lies the rub, BDSM centres on the dark side of human nature, of hurting and injuring people but we must now try to do this ‘politically correctly’ and within the confines of health & safety?!
A little self-mockery is good for us 🙂
Laughter shatters the façade of reverence and deflates the self-aggrandizing and their appointed rules and beliefs, so we can all see how things really are. So a cutting tongue flogging of our egos can do nothing but prove the point – that a little flogging never hurt no one! In fact, we should all bend over now and say “Please Sir, may I have another?”
